This Feature Documents the Building of the Crich Beacon

In the Grounds of the Crich Memorial Tower

For the Queens Golden Jubilee in June 2002

Building Work Started on April 16th 2002

On behalf of Crich Parish Council

The Building Contractor was Mr Barrie Smales Cresswell

Initially the foundations of the old beacon were excavated to a depth of two metres.

{The Old Beacon had been mounted on a wooden pole and blown down in a Gale}

a 1.5 mtre Diameter Circle was formed from plywood and

Four Cubic Metres of Concrete were then poured into the reinforced foundations
